The Language School


1.Is HEMCCFL a good language school?

The learners will receive high quality ESOL teaching from an experienced well qualified and committed course tutor. 

2.What times are classes?

Full time is 15 hours teaching per week
Sessions can be morning or afternoon
Monday to Friday 9am – 12pm, (lunch 12pm – 1pm), 1pm – 4pm

3.How many people are there in a class?

There is a maximum of 10 students per class

4.What type of people study with HEMCCFL?

There is a mix of different nationalities and ages, all are adult learners

5.What can I expect on the first day?

The first day will involve induction and enrolment.  You will get to meet other students on your course.

6.What qualifications do the teachers have?

Teachers are graduates with appropriate UK teaching qualifications and experience

7.What levels of study are offered?

From elementary to advanced, we only accept beginners on a one to one tuition basis

8.What are the lessons like?

Intensive, flexible, productive, tailored to meet your needs and skills, informal, friendly and fun

9.What facilities are there at the centre?

We have wireless linked laptops for each student, an extensive range of English teaching resources from CD ROMS to textbooks at all levels. Fax and photocopying facilities are also available and tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.

10.Do I need to provide my own course books?


We recommend you have your own books and dictionaries to use for study outside the centre, though you have free use of ours whilst you are in class. We will provide items of stationery (i.e. writing equipment, exercise books and folders)

11.Am I expected to do any homework?

Homework is optional, but practising your new skills outside the classroom will improve your learning and confidence

12.How long can I expect it to take to improve my English?

You will need to study regularly, how much you improve will depend greatly on your own motivation and your ability to learn

13.Are registration fees refundable?


No.  This is due to administration overheads

14.Is there an initial assessment?


Yes, this is to make sure you are in the teaching group most suited to you needs.  Also diagnostic assessments may be used to focus on areas that need particular improvement.
